Case file from the US National Archives for Loie Fuller v. Minnie Bemis, wherein Fuller was attempting to sue Bemis for copyright infringement in her "Serpentine Dance." In a reported opinion (50 F. 926, 1892) the court found that a dance on its own was not protected by copyright under the 1870 Copyright Act. The National Archives supplied certain pages, and the rest are from Anthea Kraut, and are reproduced here with her permission.
